How to Change Your Password After You Login

For security reasons, the TakeAway Tax portal allows you to change your password at any time after logging in. This guide walks you through the simple process of updating your password using your account profile settings.

Step 1: Access Your Profile Settings

  • Once logged in, look for the Profile section in the portal navigation. Click on Profile to access your account settings.
  • In your profile, look for the option labeled Change Password. Click on this option to open the password change dialog or form.

Step 2: Enter Your New Password

The password change form will display the following fields:

  • Current Password field: Enter your existing password to verify your identity

This security measure confirms that you are authorized to change the password on this account.

Common Error Messages and Solutions

“Password must be at least 12 characters long”

Issue: Your new password contains fewer than 12 characters[file:4].

Solution: Create a longer password that meets the 12-character minimum requirement. For example:

  • Good: TakeAway2024!
  • Good: MySecurePass123!
  • Not Acceptable: Pass123

“Passwords do not match”

Issue: The password you entered in the “New Password” field doesn’t match the “Confirm Password” field[file:4].

Solution:

  • Carefully re-enter the exact same password in both fields
  • Check for spelling errors, capitalization, and special characters
  • Ensure Caps Lock is not accidentally activated

“Current password is incorrect”

Issue: The password you entered in the “Current Password” field is wrong[file:4].

Solution:

  • Verify you are entering your current (existing) password, not your new password
  • Check for spelling errors and capitalization
  • If you’ve forgotten your current password, contact your Tax Pro or use the “Forgot Password?” option on the login page

Password Security Best Practices

  • Create Strong Passwords: Use a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (!, @, #, $, %)
  • Avoid Common Words: Don’t use dictionary words, names, or predictable patterns
  • Don’t Share Your Password: Never share your TakeAway Tax password with anyone, including your Tax Pro or TakeAway Tax staff
  • Use a Password Manager: Consider using a password manager to securely store and manage your credentials
  1. Change Regularly: Update your password every 3-6 months or whenever you suspect unauthorized access
  2. Unique Password: Use a different password for TakeAway Tax than you use for other online accounts
  3. Personal Information: Never include personal details like birthdates, addresses, or Social Security numbers in your password

If you still cannot change your password after completing these steps, contact the TakeAway Tax Store team for additional assistance.
