TakeAway Tax Portal Overview

TakeAway Tax Client Portal lets you share tax information securely, track your return, and stay in touch with your tax pro in one place. It is designed as a guided, step‑by‑step experience to simplify even complex tax situations.​

How to Sign In

  • Go to the TakeAway Tax Client Portal sign-in page.
  • Enter your username (email) and password, then click Sign In.
  • You can select “Remember Me” to stay signed in on your device and use “Forgot Password?” if you need to reset your password.​
  • You can open the translation dropdown menu and choose Spanish.

Your Dashboard

Once you are signed in, you will see your Dashboard. From here, you can:​

  • Watch an Interactive Onboarding video 
  • View your Tax Return Status (Not Started, In Progress, or Okay).​
  • See your Tax Planning Status (Awaiting Info, Under Review, etc.).​
  • Start or continue your Questionnaire (onboarding).​
  • Access Messages, My Documents, Tax Planning, Forms & Resources, Blogs, and your Profile.​

On the dashboard, you will see Your Tax Pro section.​

  • View your tax professional’s name, email, and phone number.
  • Use this info to reach out with questions or to follow up on your tax return.​

Complete the Tax Questionnaire 

The Questionnaire guides you through everything your Tax Professional will need to start your tax return. Sections include:​

  • Personal Information (Taxpayer and Spouse) – names, contact details, address, marital status, and phones.​
  • Identification Information – driver’s license or ID details for you and your spouse.​
  • Dependent Information – information about any dependents you claim.​
  • Income – W‑2s, other income, pensions, retirement, rental income, and more.​
  • Deductions & General Questions – life changes, HSAs, home sale, foreign income, digital assets, and more.​
  • Business / Investments – LLC/DBA, expenses, rental property, and Form 1099 questions.​
  • Electronic Filing & Direct Deposit – e‑file authorization and bank information for refunds.​
  • Upload Tax Documents – upload all documents needed to prepare your return.​

You can see your questionnaire listed by title, year, and status (such as Completed) and open it again as needed.​

Uploading and Viewing Documents

In My Documents, you can:

  • Upload files like W‑2s, prior year returns, and other tax documents.​
  • See each document’s name, type, tax year, and last updated date.​
  • View any documents shared with you under Shared Documents.​

Messaging Your Tax Pro

The Messages section functions like a secure inbox.​

  • View Inbox and Sent Items.
  • Click + New Message to select a recipient (such as your tax pro or office account), add a subject, and send a secure message.​

Tax Planning and Subscriptions

Under Tax Planning, you can see any active or past subscription plans for ongoing tax planning services.​

  • View your plan name, features, and status.
  • Access related tax assessment, pre‑tax proposal, tax plan, and roadmap items when available.​

Forms & Resources

In Forms & Resources, you get quick access to important tools.​

  • Forms: mileage logs, business expense worksheets, Form W‑4, Form I‑9, Form W‑9, and more.​
  • Resources: links like IRS – Where’s My Refund, Make Quarterly Estimated Tax Payments, Get IRS Transcripts, and other IRS tools.​

Blogs and Learning

The Blogs section includes educational articles on tax topics such as gig worker taxes, pet-related deductions, new parents, and nonprofits.​

  • Each article shows an author, date, short preview, and a Read More link.​

Your Profile

Under Profile, you can:

  • Review your basic information (name, email, phone, address).​
  • See your Tax Pro and a Book an Appointment option when available.​
  • Edit your details, change your profile picture, and update your password.​

If you need additional help using any area of the portal, they can send a secure message in the Messages sectionTax Professional or contact the office directly for support.​
